Duties:		The Conservation Commission administers the Massachusetts Wetland Protection Act (MGL Chapter 131, Section 40) and the Dracut Wetlands Protection Bylaw. Any altering, filling, dredging, grading of land within 100 feet of any wetland (including lakes and ponds) or within 200 feet of a river will require a permit from the Conservation Commission. Wetlands are determined by vegetation, soils, and hydrology and are not always obvious to the untrained eye. The Conservation Commission can provide you with written instructions and forms for submitting paperwork to the Conservation COmmission and DEP.
Meetings:		Usually the meetings are held the first & third Wednesdays of the month. Always check with the Conservation Department for meeting time and place. The schedule is subject to change.
